What educators are saying

This was a great way to teach opposites to clients on the autism spectrum. The activities include several coloring books and cards for matching. you can use the cards for trials or for a memory match game.
I wasn't sure my D/HH student understood opposites so I used this resource to help him. By the time we were done, he was demonstrating an understanding of opposites! Thank you.

Description

OPPOSITES - This teaching resource supplements your lessons about the concept of opposites and works well with early primary students (K-1) and young English-Language-Learners (ELLs).

THE SET INCLUDES:

• 25 POSTERS

Clear and simple posters illustrating pairs of opposite words

• AN INTERACTIVE STUDENT BOOK

There are two options for the student book. Both have an interactive element, but one copy also includes words in a lighter font to encourage tracing. In each, there is an opportunity for children to provide a few of the illustrations and to generate their own opposite words to demonstrate their background knowledge.

• PUSH AND PULL - A RELATED SCIENCE BOOK

This text about forces and motion connects science vocabulary to real-world playground examples of opposites. Traceable key words are part of the design.

• GAMES FOR PARTNERS OR SMALL GROUPS

I have included an OPPOSITES BINGO game and a MEMORY game for children to practice opposites.

• STUDENT WORKSHEETS

Practice pages, or worksheets, have been included. They are differentiated for a variety of skill levels and work well during small group instruction, remediation, at-home support, or as informal assessments.

Several opposites are highlighted in this resource, but the POSTERS include the following pairs:

in - out

front - back

clean - dirty

closed - open

big - small

above - below

full - empty

happy - sad

new - old

bottom - top

TEACHERS LIKE YOU SAID:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “The pictures and wording were appropriate for my students, which are mostly ELL. We had so much fun with these." (Vivica T.)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I enlarged the pictures to use as a sorting activity during circle time and then had the students put together the booklets during small groups. They were excited to find the opposites and make the matches. The blank pages challenged them to think on their own and apply what they had learned." (Donica C.)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “I had been looking for a good opposites resource for so long and I finally found it. Just what I was looking for." (Maria C.)
