Description

{ Olympics Ancient Greece History of Olympic Games Summer and Winter Olympic Games Olympic Medals }

Get ready for the 2024 summer Olympics in Paris, France. The Olympic medal project integrates math with Greek history. Students will have the opportunity to create an illustrated story outlining the history of the Olympic games. 8 newspaper articles are included with a fact finding sheet. Students do not need to use sources beyond the 8 articles. They will collect the necessary information and develop their facts into an illustrated story in the provided student booklet. A key is provided. Students will then design Olympic medals for the sport of their choice following specific criteria. They will calculate the circumference, area and mass of the metals. The medals are slipped into pockets in the student booklet. All calculations are shown on the pocket. Lists of all summer sports and winter sports are provided. There is a student project booklet and a rubric for assessment. Students will enjoy this unique project and will love creating a medal for their favorite Olympic sport.

I like to complete this project with my activity "Racing the Bolt" also sold in my store. The students love the chance to simulate racing the Olympic champion runner Usain Bolt.
