Number Talks Images (notice and wonder)

Description
There are many ways to use these images. In my third grade class, I ask students to make a t-chart in their Math Journals. On one side, they write “Notice” and on the other, they write “Wonder”. Students spend five minutes observing the displayed image. They record their observations under the “Notice” column of their journals. Any questions they have are recorded on the “Wonder” side.
After about five minutes, we discuss students’ observations, as I record them on the slide for the class to see. If you use an interactive whiteboard, students can come up to the board and circle observations, draw, highlight and write directly on the images.
