    • Practice all four number operations using both whole & mixed numbers & decimal fractions
    • Visualize both positive and negative numbers on number lines
    • Explore what canceling out means and how to determine a net zero sum
    • Understand the difference between a number and an integer
    • Review the Commutative Property of Addition & Multiplication
    • Review the Distributive Property of Multiplication
    • Two sets of Horizontal & Vertical number lines included with two sizes to choose from: 8.5 x 11 inches & 11 x 17 inches (for copying and printing)
    • Use domain-specific phrases and learn mathematical terminology such as: Commutative Property, integers, sum, difference, inverse operations, Distributive Property, quotient, product, and inverse operations.

What is the Number System? Practice adding & subtracting signed numbers using whole numbers, mixed number, and decimal fractions. Review the Commutative Property of Addition. What does canceling out mean? Then, Practice multiplying and dividing signed integers using whole numbers, mixed number and decimal fractions. Review the Distributive Property of Multiplication.

What is a number line and how can it help us understand the Number System? Both Horizontal & Vertical number lines included with two sizes to choose from: 8.5 x 11 inches & 11 x 17 inches (for copying and printing).

Dr. Maria Montessori believed the only way our world would find lasting peace was through educating our children. Much of her elementary curriculum was written by her during a period of internment in India during WWII. This time period helped solidify Dr. Montessori’s belief in Peace Education.

Resource Color Guide (just like the Montessori hierarchical colors):

ROOKIE Pages (Green) - Aimed toward early to mid level elementary students.

SEMiPRO Pages (Blue) - Aimed toward mid level elementary students.

VETERAN Pages (Red) - Aimed toward mid to late level elementary students.

But of course, you know the child best, so adjust accordingly.

Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.
Understand that positive and negative numbers are used together to describe quantities having opposite directions or values (e.g., temperature above/below zero, elevation above/below sea level, credits/debits, positive/negative electric charge); use positive and negative numbers to represent quantities in real-world contexts, explaining the meaning of 0 in each situation.
Understand a rational number as a point on the number line. Extend number line diagrams and coordinate axes familiar from previous grades to represent points on the line and in the plane with negative number coordinates.
Recognize opposite signs of numbers as indicating locations on opposite sides of 0 on the number line; recognize that the opposite of the opposite of a number is the number itself, e.g., -(-3) = 3, and that 0 is its own opposite.
Find and position integers and other rational numbers on a horizontal or vertical number line diagram; find and position pairs of integers and other rational numbers on a coordinate plane.
