Description
This unit is part of our Honors Biology Full Year Curriculum.
The Nucleic Acids and Protein Synthesis Complete Unit was designed to equip students with a thorough understanding of DNA structure and function. This unit is intended to give students a strong molecular understanding of DNA in preparation for later study into the cell cycle and genetics.
Each 45-minute lesson day begins with bell work that functions as a quiz over the previous day’s concepts. After completing guided notes during the PowerPoint, student understanding is immediately reinforced with targeted activities (full labs, micro-labs, in-class drawings, group activities, etc.). To ensure individual success, each day ends with an exit survey to enable teachers to track each student’s progress.
You will receive 8 days worth of material in a highly organized format:
- Day 1: The History of DNA
- Day 2: The Structure of DNA
- Day 3: DNA Model Project
- Day 4: DNA Replication
- Day 5: Protein Synthesis
- Day 6: DNA Extraction Lab
- Day 7: Unit Review
- Day 8: Unit Test
All documents are fully editable .doc or .ppt files, so feel free to make adjustments that suit your specific needs.
However, please do not share or sell any part of this unit in any capacity - even if you have made significant changes. Any use other than personal use is expressly forbidden.
