Description

This is not your typical  presentation for International Women’s Day or biography bundle although you can complement those fact sheets and bio bundles with this presentation.

This presentation was created with an ABAR/decolonial lens, students and teachers are invited to engage in a critical thinking process and discussions about history, identity, equality, activism, representation and inaccurate, superfluous tokenizing narratives of the commemoration.

This presentation was created with comprehension in mind so is simple and full of scaffolds such as cognates and images. All the slides give teachers a chance to discuss that topic in a way that resonates with their classes and take it further.

In fact, most of the slides are an invitation to teachers to go deeper, keep it simple and scaffold the presentation their own way.  My recommendation is that the presentation is used by segments (mini lessons) and that different lessons are properly scaffold by activating schema, reviewing cognate recognition and introducing new vocabulary

The PDF has 15 slides with high-quality, appealing images that can carry their own sets of discussions as well. It is the perfect kick off to Women’s History Month (Presentation coming!) Additionally, when you click on the picture of the lyrics of Brad and Roses in the 6th slide, the link will take you to the song  as sung in the British movie Pride with Spanish subtitles. Every mini lesson, but especially the ones about vocabulary such as: feminism, intersectionality, social justice and social identity,  can be assessed with a different project or can be part of your daily routine throughout the whole month.

I’d love if you share with me your classroom activities
