This project has students research one lighthouse in North Carolina. Their goal of the project is to write a research paper and create a poster giving details about one lighthouse in North Carolina. It can be completed in one to two weeks and can be done in partners or independently.
Students can choose one of the lighthouses in North Carolina and began researching on the first day. They used http://www.lighthousefriends.com/nc.html to get a lot of their information. If every group cannot have some type of technology, you could print out the information from this page. You do not have to use this website to use this product. Students can use other resources to research their lighthouse.
To be sure that all pieces get completed, the project is broken down in detail. There is also a space for the teacher to sign after each piece has been done. This allows you to check their progress and make sure they are on the right track to finish with a product that contains everything the rubric asks for.
