Description

This is a great one day activity to explore natural disasters before delving into topics in geology or earth science such as plate tectonics, volcanoes and earthquakes, or severe weather. The webquest works great for distance learning too, and has been update for use with the TPT digital tool.

As students complete the webquest, they will think about the essential question "What makes one location more or less dangerous to live at than other locations?"

Areas within the webquest include:

Which county in the USA is the safest/ least safe?

Hurricanes

Most current earthquakes in the USA

Top 10 natural disasters world-wide for 2017

This product has been updated with the digital overlay feature, perfect to use with distance or virtual learning! It can be assigned to students in a Google Classroom. You can either use the digital overlay already created, or create your own! For more information, read here!

I used this webquest as part of my 5E lesson plans for the Explore part while teaching about plate tectonics. It ties into the NGSS MS-ESS2.
