Engage your students with these colorful Google Slides to have your students learn more about Native Americans. This Google Classroom resource contains a complete paperless report to help guide your students as they produce their research report.

Use these activities to engage students in a whole class, small group, or independent environment. This resource is also perfect for home school students.

Templates are included to create, develop, write, edit, present, and assess your students’ Native American Research Report. This report (or performance task) is also designed to not only to learn and explain the new information, but answer some higher level thinking questions (Common Core Essential Questions) to apply the knowledge they have learned. Students will do all of their research via the Internet and print media (this is not included in this product). Our product is designed to assess and show what your students have learned and share it with you, their parents, and perhaps the class if you’d like them to present it.

A simple rubric and student checklist is included.

You can use this report template in its entirety, or “pick and choose” the slides you wish to use and tailor it to your students’ needs. This package contains the following Native American Report elements/questions:

Report Template includes:

1. Which Native American group did you choose and why did you choose it?

2. What region in the United States did your Native Americans primarily live? Describe this region, its resources, its weather, and its landforms.

3. Insert a map of the region the group lived in. Highlight that region.

4. Describe the type of homes that the group that you studied made and why did they make this type of dwelling?

5. Describe the typical diet of your Native American group and why did they eat these particular foods.

6. Many Native American groups had very special ceremonies where they performed various songs, dances, rituals, and food preparation. Describe these ceremonies and why they had them.

7. How did your Native Americans travel? Where did they travel, how far from their homes did they travel, and why did they feel the need to travel?

8. What types of animals did your Native American group rely on and why was this animal or these animals important to them?

9. What kinds of tools did your Native Americans use? What did they use these tools for?

10. Nature was quite important to most Native American groups. How did your Native Americans view nature?

11. Describe the type of art that your Native Americans created. Art can be creations such as pottery, sculpture, any type of pictures or paintings, leatherwork, clothing, basket weaving, dolls, or other collectible items.

12. How did your Native Americans treat unfamiliar people or groups of people that they did not know? Did they trade with others? Describe these interactions.

13. What are the interesting facts about your Native American group? Were there special leaders, inventions, or discoveries associated with your Native American group?

14. Compare and contrast your Native American group with another group of Native Americans that you find interesting. What are their similarities and differences?

15. If you were a member of your Native American group long ago, what would a typical day be like for you? Describe your day as a member of this group.

16. What caused your Native American group to fall ( if applicable). Was it because of wars with others moving into their region, diseases or illnesses? Describe whether this group of people is still in existence today, or if not, why not?

17. Insert pictures of important people in this group and give a caption for each picture.

18. Blank page to add to any of the questions if more room is needed.

19. Additional Information page for any other facts not discussed in other areas of the report if needed.

20. A page to help your students find information for their report.

21. Resource Page and Bibliography Template- I use the Resource Page template because my students are not ready to learn the rules of a true bibliography, but if you teach bibliography skills I have included a template for you.
