Native Americans Interactive Notebook for 2nd Grade Geography

This is a complete interactive notebook unit with assessments for 2nd Grade Native Americans. This 54 page unit includes activities, vocabulary, and map practice. These activities can either be used with a textbook or used as a teacher-led unit.

There are note pages for five Native American regions, as well as a table comparing all of the regions and Native American Regions map. Teachers can choose to use one table and map or a note page for each region.

Other activities include an essential question, vocabulary, short responses, graphic organizers, and Venn diagrams.

The Native American regions covered in this unit are:

• Northeast Woodlands
• Southeast Woodlands
• The Plains
• The Southwest
• Pacific Northwest

The standards covered in this unit are:

• Students will recognize that Native Americans were the first inhabitants of North America.
• Students will compare the cultures of Native American tribes from various geographic regions of the United States.
• Students will understand the impact of immigrants on Native Americans.

Four summative assessments are also included: vocabulary, mapping, culture, and short response.

A complete answer key is included, including photos of each completed page.

This unit was designed with early 2nd graders in mind.

• The activities can either be used as whole-page printables or cut and glued into a notebook.
• As many primary teachers use composition books, the activities were designed to fit their smaller pages.
• The shapes to cut are simple rectangles - and students just glue them on the page.
• The summative assessment was broken into smaller chunks in order to accommodate shorter attention spans.
