This huge bundle of resources has everything you need for a comprehensive study of historic Native American customs and traditions. The NATIVE AMERICAN SUPER PACK BUNDLE includes FIVE activity books, NINE cross-curricular activities, FIVE 11 x 17 inch posters, and a set of SIXTY pictograph game cards.
Books Included:
- Native American Games features ten traditional games played by Native American children and adults. The games utilize simple materials found in nature, and the book includes instructions and a vocabulary review activity.
- Native American Homes is an interactive cut-and-glue book that explores the way environment and lifestyle influenced 8 different types of historic homes built by Native Americans across the United States.
- Native American Medicine Wheel uses a variety of interactive activities to explore the history and symbolism of the medicine wheel in Native American culture.
- Native American Voices highlights the quotes and contributions of twelve historic and modern-day Native Americans—Powhatan, Sequoyah, Geronimo, Sitting Bull, Chief Joseph, Crazy Horse, Will Rogers, Jim Thorpe, Maria Tallchief, Peter MacDonald (Navajo Code Talker), John Herrington (astronaut), and Deb Haaland (Secretary of the Interior)--and includes a crossword review.
Posters and Games Included:
- Native American Pictographs is an 11 x 17 inch poster of forty commonly-used Native American symbols, which can be used to create original picture-writing stories.
- The Native American Poster Pack contains four 11 x 17 inch posters—Arts, Daily Life, Foods, and Homes—illustrated with colorful photographs.
- The Pictograph Game Card Pack contains 60 pictograph game cards, as well as blank cards for adding additional symbols, a fact sheet about pictographs and petroglyphs, and a bonus lunar calendar activity.
Cross-Curricular Activities Included:
- Ancient Ancestors uses a fill-in-the-blank format to introduce the ancient origins of two prehistoric Native American cultures—the Clovis Culture of the United States and the Heiltsuk Nation of Canada.
- Bison or Buffalo? compares the characteristics of the American bison and African Cape Buffalo.
- Native American Homes highlights eight historic Native American homes with a cut-and-glue format that allows students to match descriptions and pictures.
- Native American Nations (Before European Exploration) is a mapping activity that illustrates the location of major tribes across America before the arrival of European settlers. It also includes a colorful mini-poster that also serves as the answer key.
- Pictograph Puzzler challenges students to identify common picture-writing symbols, using a word bank.
- The American Bison is a labeling activity that illustrates how tribes of the Great Plains used every part of the buffalo for food, clothing, and shelter.
- The Great Eagle is a symmetrical drawing activity that focuses on the eagle as a symbol of power and strength in Native American storytelling traditions, as well as in the national symbols of countries around the world.
- The Top Ten introduces the ten largest Native American nations in the United States today, using a word search format.
- BONUS ACTIVITY: The People- In most cases, the names we commonly use to identify Native American nations were given to them by outsiders. In their own languages, a surprising number of nations identify themselves as simply, The People. This bonus word search puzzle features the original names of 14 well-known Native American cultures.

What kinds of resources does Let’s Get Real offer?
All of my K-5 books, printables, posters, and games focus on content-area literacy—building the specialized vocabulary of science and social studies—because having an extensive vocabulary is not only a top predictor of reading success, it also has a huge impact on overall school success and standardized testing scores. My science materials target topics and standards outlined in the NGSS and TEKS. In social studies, I concentrate on multicultural literacy, providing resources that develop a knowledge of and an appreciation for the diverse cultures in our global society.
How can I see what you offer or know when you’ve added new materials?
Click on the star to the right of this description (under my pic) OR click on my store link (above), then click on the star at the top of the page to follow Let’s Get Real. You’ll be the first to know about new materials, sales, and freebies. To view the resources by science/social studies topics, look to the left on the store page, under the heading Custom Categories.
What are TPT credits and how do I get them?
Every time you provide feedback for a purchase, TPT gives you 1 credit for each dollar you’ve spent. After you’ve used (and hopefully loved!) a resource, hover on your picture at the top of the page and open the “My Account” tab. Click on your “My Purchases” category. You should see a list of your purchases with a “Provide Feedback” button for each one. Just click the button and you’ll be taken to a page where you can rate the product and leave a comment for me.
