Description

PRINT + DIGITAL!

This lesson is the perfect modern day connection of cultural appropriation that your students can see happening around them right now. Give them the tools to be informed by experts about cultural appropriation from the All My Relations podcast with two different episode options with doodle notes. After this, students will read articles about different types of cultural appropriation in the mainstream media through articles. To make analyzing these articles more engaging, students will choose 2/4 articles "blindly." This means that 4 provided articles will be placed around your classroom in envelopes with clues on the front as to what each article is about. Once students pick their two articles, they will use a student handout to dive deep into the text and make connections between the articles and podcast to develop a well-rounded understanding of cultural appropriation.

What's included:

  • 2 sets of doodle notes for 2 different podcast episodes - print and digital
  • Answer keys for doodle notes
  • Blind reading activity with provided articles - print and digital

This resource is also included in my Native American Literature Unit Bundle.
