What educators are saying

Great resource for my intro to Native American/Indigenous Writers unit! I love that my students were able to work at their own pace.
I used these stations as an introduction to my Native American Literature unit. The students seemed to enjoy the activity, and it required very little prep on my part.

Description

These intro to Native American Literature learning stations are now printable and digital!

Spice up your Native American Literature unit with these intro learning stations! Instead of using a PowerPoint to lecture this information to students, you can engage them in moving around the room to learn the information themselves with a small group. In addition to reading a snapshot of historical background in each station, there is also a question at each station that challenges students to put themselves in the shoes of the Native Americans and Colonists who came to America. Students will need to answer these questions on their student response sheet.

These stations cover the (generally-speaking) helpful nature of the Native American people towards the colonists, the colonists' fear of exploring new land, the Native Americans vs. Colonists in the way that they view land, intro knowledge of Native American Oral Literature, trickster tales, and creation myths. This resource is a great stepping stone to engaging your students in Native American Literature no matter what path you take in teaching it from here!
