Description

I put students into groups and give each group a pack of student-released essays, the prompt, and a copy of the OST rubric.

The work together to analyze the essays, prompt, and rubric. The last activity requires them to match the state comments and the student essay for each set in their packet. A key is provided. I typically use this as a contest between groups. And if one group finishes early, there are extra packets with smaller amounts of essays they can work on with extra time.

Everything is labeled and coordinated. It will take a few minutes to figure out but students are very engaged and feel really confident about the essay grading afterwards.
