Description

In this lab/activity students create a model of the Sun, Earth, and moon to demonstrate what happens during moon phases, eclipses, and time zones. This product includes all hand-drawn templates of the Sun, Earth and moon. This model is not to scale, I have a different lab activity to demonstrate that.

Students will be able to study for the included quiz using the models they created.

In the video preview, the student accurately showed the positions of the moon around the earth during different phases. She made the understandable mistake of pointing the day side of the moon directly at the sun which, in this model, is only a few inches away. In reality because its hundreds of thousands of miles away, the shadow line should always be perpendicular to the line that connects the Sun and Earth.

There are a few options on how to deliver the lesson because there is an extra model piece student can add if you want to get more in-depth with time zones.
