NGSS Science Multi-Rubric

This rubric can be quickly and easily used to assess any type of task related to any NGSS Cross-Cuttting Concept or Science and Engineering Practice. It is designed to be used with any Performance Expectation task as well. Also well suited for assessing Common Core writing and reading tasks in science.

With the implementation of the NGSS (Next Gen Science Standards) happening across the United States, it is essential to find ways to assess students according to these new standards. I wanted to find a way to quickly and efficiently assess any task, whether it is a project, a performance task, or a writing task. I did not want to just use existing rubrics that do not focus on the thinking required for Science. I also did not want to have to develop a different rubric for every different type of task and every standard available. Students fill in the details for the task as provided by the teacher and use it as a guide while completing the project, performance task, or writing task.
