'Mythical Creatures in Harry Potter' PowerPoint Presentation

This is the first of five planned PowerPoint presentations centering on the Harry Potter series. The slides will engage your students with colorful pictures, animations, sound clips, and texts, and introduce them to a unique way of understanding the magical world of Harry Potter. It is appropriate for ages 8-18. Middle schoolers and high schoolers alike will enjoy learning about Harry's wizardly world. This presentation is, in essence, a teacher's guide to explain the classical significance of the character names, spells, creatures, potions, and magical devices that J.K. Rowling chose to inhabit her books. You don't have to be a classical scholar, however, to enjoy the show, just a Harry Potter aficionado or a fan of fantasy. If you and your students enjoy this first taste of Harry Potter, I hope that you will come back for more.
