What educators are saying

This was such a fun activity. I loved hearing the students thoughts about why they thought it was a duck or a rabbit.
My students love the story Duck Rabbit and this opinion writing was just what we needed for our lesson on opinion writing! It tied very well with our standards.

Description

This product includes everything you need to successfully lead your students in completing a writing assignment for beginning writers. The topic of the writing is deciding if an optical illusion is a duck or a rabbit. This would work for a beginning opinion writing.

This product would go well with the book "Duck! Rabbit!"

You Get:

-Brainstorming Sheet: Students decide whether the picture is a rabbit or a duck. They list two reasons to support their opinions.

-Planning Sheet: Students create three sentences stating their opinions. The first sentence states their choice, and the next two state their reasons for believing it.

-Writing/Illustrating Sheet: Students write their stories from their planning sheets and add details to the image to make it resemble their beliefs.

-Rubric: Includes areas for the teacher to assess capital letters, punctuation, phonic skills, handwriting, if personal opinions were stated, and if the picture supports their opinions.
