This is an excellent resource for students just starting to learn about research and informative/expository writing. Primary students are usually very interested in researching and learning about different animals. This resource includes graphic organizers and final draft writing templates to help students develop their love of animal research and report writing. Ways to use this resource in your classroom:

1. Traditional research: Assign each student a different animal to research and write a report about.

2. Animal of the week: Study a new animal each week - as a whole class or independently. Have all students complete a report about that animal.

3. Early finishers: Make templates available for students to work on when they finish their work. This works excellently for high-achievers!

4. Centers: The graphic organizers could be placed in your reading, technology, and writing centers. This can be easily incorporated with "Animal of the Week."
