My American Flag-Independent Craft and Writing
(Great for Presidents' Day!)
To prepare for independent activity:
Make a copy of the flag for each student.
Each student will also need four 4.5in x .5in red strips and three 9.5in x .5in red strips.
blue crayons
q-tips
white paint
make a sample project to refer to
Students glue the red strips in the appropriate places. They color the star section blue with a crayon. Then they use the q-tips to dot the white paint in each star. When the craft is complete, they use either one of the writing response papers to describe their flag. Can be differentiated by letting the more advanced students use the open-ended prompt response and others can use the prescribed response page.
