Musical Chairs Activity - parallel and perpendicular lines *see note
Description
Students receive a card with a either a coordinate point or linear equation on it. Then, music is played and students walk around the room as they would in musical chairs, but when the music stops, they have to pair up with another person (a coordinate point person pairs with a linear equation person and vice versa). Once paired, the teacher calls out "PARALLEL" or "PERPENDICULAR." The students then use the given point and line to write an equation that is either parallel or perpendicular to the given line through the given point. A worksheet with 4 rounds is included along with the point and line cards!
*Note: Some of the lines need to be put in slope-intercept form to identify the slope. Some coordinate point and linear equation combinations will involve y-intercepts that are fractions. I have another version of this activity in my store where all of the lines are in slope-intercept form and the resulting lines do not involve fractions.
