Description

This musical artist spotlight project invites intermediate and senior level students to explore and analyze the music they love while also expressing why that music is important and meaningful to them.

Students will:

  • prepare and present a presentation about one of their favourite musical artists
  • practice basic and in-depth song analyses based on the 7 elements of music
  • make meaningful written connections to the music they love
  • edit a peer's written work before presenting
  • learn about and complete basic music research
  • write a bibliography in APA format
  • reflect on their strengths, weaknesses, and areas of growth by completing a self-assessment

The results of this project can be shared with the whole class as a means of building community and fostering compassion for one another.
