Music Time Periods--Classroom Exploration (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Modern)

This is designed to be used with a year long study of the 4 major periods of music: Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern. Students are tasked to research composers and together as a class build a visual collage on the classroom walls. Beginning with Baroque, the students bring in paper bricks to begin building the foundation. Next the Classical period is represented by castle towers and is built on the bricks. The Romantic period is represented by Rapunzel, and lastly, the Modern period is represented by a variety of modern items: cars, planes, robots, etc., sprinkled about the classroom wall collage. Through these 4 simple assignments, the classroom becomes alive for visual and kinesthetic learners.
