What educators are saying

This resource is amazing. The project ideas are awesome, and for a teacher who has minimal experience with music it was easy to teach! Highly recommend.
I used this as a jumping point for Summer School, and the students really enjoyed these projects! Thank you so much!

Description

** Perfect for Distance Learning!** These projects were designed for the busy music teacher who needs help with starting or organizing a Music Technology course, or who simply wants to add some music tech or songwriting into the classes they already teach. The best part is, you do NOT have to be a professional sound engineer to teach these lessons! Enough project ideas/ material to use for a year-long course.

JUST ADDED! Example videos of completed projects in the teacher resources section!

In this bundle you'll receive:

♪ The 12 project ideas which include a project details page (includes lots of tips and tricks, plus a teacher's page with an easily customizable rubric)

♪ A glossary of "techy" terms

♪ A map of important GarageBand functions

♪ A huge list of keyboard shortcuts

♪ A robust, comprehensive list of all the supplemental videos, articles, files, completed examples etc. that I use to teach the lessons

Curious about how each project will look? Download my Special FX freebie to see exactly what the project formats look like. Keep in mind, only this 12 bundle product comes with the glossary, map, shortcuts and supplemental resources.

I also have a Worksheet Bundle and Exit Tickets designed to go along with each lesson!

★★★ If you're considering purchasing more than one item from my store ★★★

(like this bundle + the worksheet bundle) you may want to consider splurging for my MEGA Bundle. Its a HUGE value and contains literally everything you need (and some) to teach two years of music tech courses. This is all the material I need to teach both Music Technology I and Music Technology II courses, each a year-long course.

More about this bundle:

The lessons are primarily aimed at the high school student, but can easily be adapted for middle school, and in some cases, can even be simplified for upper-elementary. I like to consider this a collection of projects that teach music through technology (as opposed to simply teaching the technology).

Enough project ideas to cover a year-long, Music Technology course, each project is sequential. They start with the basic functions of GarageBand (or whichever DAW you're using) and move toward more advanced features. In the same way, the projects begin with little to no music theory, and advance to a point where students are writing, recording and producing their own songs. (Even so, the projects are still created in such a way that things can be simplified a great deal to accommodate any student level; the level of music theory can be pared down, or amped up as desired.)

Note that these are not technically formal lesson plans, but could be with the addition of standards and a few other tweaks. However, I do have the correlating national standards listed in a Music Technology Curriculum Map

I've created for these projects.

I consider this bundle a collection of detailed project ideas that can be adapted for many different situations or uses.

Created for GarageBand, but the general concept will still apply with most programs (Audacity, Soundation, Ableton, Logic, etc.).

If you aren't familiar with GarageBand you will probably need to study up on some of the basics as the lessons assume a basic knowledge of the DAW... but you don’t need to be a pro to begin teaching these lessons. I wasn’t when I started. You’ll learn with the students as you progress.

For every project, the project details sheet will include the following:

♪ A basic overview of the project

♪ The list of skills that will be learned (here’s where you can easily add standards)

♪ A step-by-step of how the student accomplish the project

♪ A list of requirements to earn their grade

♪ A “tips and tricks” section designed to help students with common mistakes, challenges, etc. which I’ve encountered after teaching these projects for many years

On a separate page you’ll find:

♪ A rubric that can be easily customized

♪ A “Teacher to Teacher” section designed to help the instructor effectively communicate and teach the project. (Here I explain some common issues I’ve run into in the past and ways I’ve found to help students be more successful.)

If you're looking for something for younger or beginner students, I do have a Mini Lesson Bundle! which is perfect for the novice musician/GarageBand user.
