    Description

This is a bundle of two music listening journal resources intended for K-5 students (plus a bonus resource!). There are printable & digital versions of every variation. See descriptions below:

Music Listening Journals | Early Elementary | Printable & Digital

This resource was created to help students learn to analyze, compare/contrast, and form opinions about musical selections from a young age. It includes three types of activities:

Listen & Draw (2): Have students draw what they are imagining while listening to music. Depending on the musical selection and/or the grade level, drawings may be abstract, a scene, or simply color combinations. There are TWO versions of Listen & Draw: one for a single piece and one to compare two pieces of music.

Listening Journal (3): Have students answer simple questions during or after listening to a musical selection. There are three versions here to be used across grade levels, or for differentiation proposes.

Musical Opinion Journal (2): This activity is a combination of the two above, but encourages students to form an opinion about and preference between 2 or 3 listening selections. You may choose to have them write the titles & performers in the box, draw a simple picture, or use it to take notes on the music as they are listening.

    AND

Music Listening Journals | Printable & Digital | Distance Learning

This can be used to review musical vocabulary, describe performances /recordings, and sharpen listening skills! You will find three versions of this listening journal with varying categories and vocabulary. This resource includes printable versions and digital versions so it can be used both in the classroom and for distance learning.

    PLUS

    Listening Walk | Distance Learning

This resource will help your students observe all the sounds around them. A listening walk encourages students to listen carefully and take in all the sounds that usually blend in to the background. I have included two versions- one with specific sounds for students to listen for and one that students will fill in as they go.

I used this activity while distance learning- I paired it with a song and book about the sounds of nature. This could also be used in school- by taking a listening walk as a class. Enjoy!

This resource will upload files right to your Google Drive to either print or distribute virtually.
