USE THIS RESOURCE:
PREPARE:
- Sing the song for the students or use the recording.
- Play the Game
- Use the pages teaching Rhythm, Pitch, Notes on the staff.
- If students are learning “la”, then ask them which pitch changes. Ask students what sounds the same and what sounds different?
- You may need to sing or hum it a few times for them to notice one note is higher.
- Now hum and ask students to show the pitch with solfa hand signs.
- Use the Solfa Street to help students notice and practice the new note.
PRESENT:
- Tell students the name of the new pitch and show the hand sign using solfa street and/or the snowball notes.
- Sing the part of the song that includes the new pitch with syllables “mi so la”
- Have the students sing the song 1 more time with words.
PRACTICE:
- Move to the writing or other activity to practice in a different medium.
- Sing the Song and Play the Game
- These lessons may be spread out over several class times.
