What educators are saying
Used as a small unit study before attending a classical orchestra concert. It was great, I loved how in depth it was about the history.
This is a great concise outline of major music history events/people. Great to keep in student folders as a reminder of the bigger picture.
Description
Includes Baroque Period-Modern Day. Each era has a time line of World Events, a brief description of what society and culture was like during that time, and a featured composers' biography list with 5-6 highlighted big-picture facts for each composer.
This could be used as a quick overview, a review, or as a starting point to a more in-depth composer research project. Students could review the highlights before selecting a composer to research.
Composers featured: Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Bizet, Listz, Rossini, J Strauss, John Philip Sousa, Bernstein, Cage, Copland, Gershwin, Holst, Ives, Joplin, Schoenberg, William Grant Still, Stravinsky
