What educators are saying

This was such a fun, engaging resource that helped my students understand this concept more. Thank you!!

Description

Bring an element of fun to learning and practicing fractions with this multiplying mixed numbers by mixed numbers SCOOT game for upper elementary. Scoot is a fast-paced game that uses speed and competition to encourage mastery of skill. The game cards can also be multi-purposed as task cards during the early learning stages.

I have included a black and white version along with the color version for teachers who want to save money on ink. Print the black and white version on colored paper and your cards will look fabulous! (see preview for pictures)

More details on how to play SCOOT can be found by downloading the preview.

Your download will be a zip file with a 18 page B&W version pdf and a 18 page color version pdf. Both pdf’s will include:

• Scoot game directions
• 32 game cards over multiplying whole numbers by fractions
• 3 different recording sheets (for playing game with 10 cards, 20 cards, 32 cards)
• Scoot game answer key
• Thank you

Important note for printing: When printing the PDF, be sure to select "fit to page" if your print dialogue box shows that option. Normally this is a default setting. However, if your PDF seems to be shifted to the side, changing it to "fit to page" should fix the problem.

Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication to multiply a fraction by a whole number.
Interpret the product (𝘢/𝘣) × 𝘲 as a parts of a partition of 𝘲 into 𝘣 equal parts; equivalently, as the result of a sequence of operations 𝘢 × 𝘲 ÷ 𝘣. For example, use a visual fraction model to show (2/3) × 4 = 8/3, and create a story context for this equation. Do the same with (2/3) × (4/5) = 8/15. (In general, (𝘢/𝘣) × (𝘤/𝘥) = 𝘢𝘤/𝘣𝘥.)
