Looking for a choreography project to use with PE and dance classes? This tried-and-true unit embeds daily check-ins and progress check points to make sure the students are staying on task and moving forward with the creating their dance. This project is paced for three-weeks from conception to performance and includes a clear rubric so students know what elements are needed to be successful.
This booklet assigns all group member a specific task needed to successfully complete the project, allowing all students to feel ownership in the group. Groups work together in a goal-setting activity and check-ins allow students to self-reflect on their progress towards meeting their goals.
While this resource is designed for choreography, it can be modified for group projects in any subject area.
In this booklet you will get:
- Planning pages for students to prepare for project
- Tasks clearly broken up on separate pages
- A calendar for the project (can be edited)
- A grading rubric (can be edited)
- Space for the teacher to leave feedback for students
Add a focus element by giving your project a theme for students to base their dance around, such as dancing through the decades, dance around the world, and dances from movies and TV shows.
Keep your classes organized by color-coding. Print off booklets for different classes on different colored paper.
On a personal note…I have been using this project for years. Most recently, I introduced this project two days prior to being unexpectedly out of work for a week and a half. I came back to strong dances and students that knew where they needed to go with the project, despite having a sub.
