Description

Greetings,

Drew Hayden Taylor’s novel, Motorcycles & Sweetgrass, is a delightful story featuring a famous Indigenous Trickster character -- Nanabush. The story revolves around thirteen-year old Virgil Second, his grandmother, mother, uncle and others on the Otter Lake Reserve. Humour, suspense, mystery, mischief and misdirection abound, along with empathy, grace, wonder and wisdom.

This 216-page resource covers all four strands: reading, writing, oral, and media. It develops your students’ critical thinking and creative communication through a Student Workbook and the Multiple Intelligences Process. It also saves you time and energy that can then assist you to do what teachers do best – explore, engage, enrich.

Students have multiple ways to increase and showcase their learning.

* Complete the Student Workbook (11-139),

* Creatively engage in the Multiple Intelligences Project (8-10), and

* Complete some other form or forms of assessment and evaluation: Multiple Choice, Agree or Disagree -- Explain, and Essay (140-172).

Was that a ’53 Indian Chief Motorcycle that just roared by with a stranger shouting, “I’m back”? Whatever, smell that sweetgrass. Breathe it in deeply. And keep your head up and eyes open for racoons.

As John would say, “Ga-waabamin.”
