Students experience the story of Moses and the Israelites in this dynamic presentation. Two versions are included: a full "expanded" version and a mini-skit.
Expanded Version: 6-11 people, 15-20 minutes (sectioned into 5 parts)
Mini-Skit Version: 3 people, 5-10 minutes
The mini skit includes a narrator, Moses, and "person 3" who plays a variety of characters throughout the phases of Moses' life. This script is 4 pages and it is perfect for homeschool, small groups, a center activity, or Sunday School.
In the expanded version, one narrator and 10 characters present the story of Moses and the Israelites. Roles can be combined to accommodate a smaller group with 7 character roles. The script is 14 pages and the presentation lasts 15-20 minutes. A sample of the text can be found below.
The story contained in this script covers the life of Moses from his birth and journey in a basket down the river, growing up in the palace, leaving Egypt and finding the burning bush, the 10 plagues, the Red Sea, quail & manna, water from a rock, the 10 commandments, the golden calf, the 12 spies, 40 years in the desert, and Moses' death.
The script is sectioned into 5 parts which can be presented separately all at once.
Script Sample
Israelite 1: Praise the Lord! We are free from Pharaoh!!
Israelite 2: Yeah! Hooray! God is good!
Israelite 1: Wait a minute…what is that sound?
Pharaoh: (speaking from off stage) GET THEM!
Israelite 2: It’s the army! Pharaoh is coming for us! Moses, what have you done to us!?
Moses: Don't’ be afraid! The Lord is with us!
Israelite 1: Pharaoh’s army is coming after us and the Red Sea is in front of us! There is nowhere to go! There is no hope!
Israelite 2: You brought us out of slavery just to be captured again? He will kill us this time! We would be better off as slaves! We are doomed!!
Moses: The Lord himself will fight for you! Just stay calm!
God: Moses! Stretch your hand out over the sea. I will make a way!
Moses raises hand.
Israelites gasp.
Narrator: When Moses raised his staff, God parted the Red Sea and made a road of dry land for the Israelites to pass straight through with walls of water on each side. They walked to safety on dry land.
