Description

This DIGITAL and PRINT Morning Message to Edit and Respond is the *perfect* way to get your 3rd grade students reading, writing, editing, and learning grammar skills all at once! This Morning Message to Edit and Respond is a Spiral Language Review program that was developed to keep the students interacting with language concepts in an authentic, in-context manner, while also having an opportunity to respond in writing to a prompt using those same language concepts.

What you will find in this resource are 36 weeks worth of short messages to help teach your students the 3rd Grade Common Core Language Standards. The skills and standards spiral, enabling your students to get many chances to see the standard in use. In the pages that follow, there will be lesson plans and examples showing you how to effectively use this program in your third grade classroom. Each of the Morning Message to Edit and Respond pages are based upon the standards found in the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts. These Morning Messages focus on the Language standards, with writing standards sprinkled in. They are written in all three writing genres (narrative, informational, and opinion.) These are NOT generic messages to welcome your class or to preview the day. These ARE mini stories for your students to get real-life work with editing, revising, and applying the language standards. A list of each standard with a page number indicating where that standard can be found as a focus in the Morning Messages is also included in this resource.

In this resource is:

* 36 weeks of Morning Messages (both DIGITAL links and to PRINT from the pdf)

* Lesson Plan

* Examples of some completed messages

* Rubric

* Standards Index

* CCSS Correlations for each Message

* Blank Pages for you to write your own personalized messages

There are also DIGITAL links to these messages that are housed on Google Slides. Each of the messages are grouped in packs of 5 messages, so that you may send them out to your students for the entire week. The skill focus for that week is indicated on the Google Slides Links page.

Because there are both DIGITAL and PRINT messages included, this can be used in nearly all classroom situations! This is practically two resources in one!

Note: The messages themselves are NOT editable. The digital pages have the capability for the students to use editing marks for corrections and an area for them to type a response, but the written messages that are here can not be changed.

YOU CAN FIND A FULL SAMPLE WEEK IN THE PREVIEW! Just download the preview and you will find a digital link to assign to your students or the printed week to give to your students on paper. There is also a scope and sequence so that you can see what skills are covered.
