Description

Phases of the Moon Worksheet - Diagram the phases of the Moon in this EPIC Moon Phases Activity! This diagramming worksheet will engage all learners as they discover WHY and WHEN we see certain phases of the Moon. Teach the phases of the Moon so they truly UNDERSTAND and not just memorize.

In this activity, students first diagram the Earth, Sun, and Moon and COLOR the lit and dark sides. You then focus on JUST Earth, and what part of the sky is visible at different times of the day. Then you add in the Moon, and how much of the lit side is visible from Earth at each location. This resource works BRILLIANTLY.

Students will understand the Moon's position in orbit and WHY we see varying amounts of the lit side. Moon phases, eclipses, and more are covered. Students will not only know the names of the phases, but will gain an understanding of WHY we have moon phases- and why certain phases are only visible at certain times of the day.
