What educators are saying

Love being able to use as a resource to teach from and have games and center activities all in one spot.
Money is such a hard concept for my students but this resource really made it fun and easy. I love that it came with a guided lesson and slides that were very visual for my students.

Hands-On Activities for Whole Group, Small Group, and Centers

These activities were created for hands-on practice with identifying coins and counting money.

I included activities to use during:

•Small Group Time – students get guided practice at the teacher table during math rotations

•Whole Group – I included activities that are perfect for whole group review during or at the end of your unit!

These activities also make great math centers! I love re-using activities we have already done together at teacher table because students are able to complete them independently!

Activities Included:

  • Coin Sort Math Mat
  • Counting Coins Math Mat
  • Hairy Money Math Mat
  • Show it 2, 3, or 4 Ways Math Mats

⭐️ Math Mats are my favorite for no-prep activities. These activities are perfect for centers or small group work. They are designed to be hands-on and interactive, allowing students to apply the concepts they have learned in a fun and engaging way.

To use: just slide them into dry erase pockets and add manipulatives for hands-on practice!

TIP: Re-use the activities later as a math center! Students already know how to do the activity and it makes math centers easier to plan!

Printable Money Anchor Charts and Vocabulary Posters

These posters are perfect for classroom display and serve as a visual reminder of the key concepts covered in the unit. They include colorful graphics and clear explanations of concepts. Create a math reference wall to add to throughout your money unit.

I also love using the included mini posters to make vocabulary rings for students to access during small group and math centers.

And I give each of my students the individual Counting Coins Vocabulary Sheet to keep in their math folders for easy reference!

Posters Included:

  • Essential Questions
  • Student Objectives
  • Penny
  • Nickel

Money Worksheets

20 Worksheets to practice identifying, sorting, and counting coins

These math worksheets are perfect for practicing the skills taught during your money mini lessons.

Perfect for math centers, independent work, and morning work.

Assessment

Assess your students before, during, and after your money unit!

A note on Money standards in 1st Grade:

In the common core, money is not introduced until 2nd grade. HOWEVER, it is so helpful for students to have background knowledge on the coins and their values going into 2nd! It is also included in many state standards such as the TEKS. Because of this, I wanted to make sure money was included in my Guided Math Bundle!

Includes:

Exit Slips:

  • These are designed to be quick check-in used throughout your unit for formative assessment.
  • At the end of your small group time, give an exit slip to each student to complete. Collect and use the data to guide the next days small group instruction.
  • 7 exit slips included!

Brain Check

  • This is designed to be a summative assessment at the end of the unit.
  • It assesses the following:

Students will be able to identify pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters and their values.

Students will be able to count mixed groups of pennies, nickels, and dimes.

  • I included 2 versions that could be used as a pre-test and post test in your classroom.
  • Answer keys are also included!
