In this Modern America in the 1980s, 90s, and 2000s PowerPoint and notes activity, you receive a 70+ slide PowerPoint and 6 pages of guided notes (with check-in questions) for instruction on the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and the presidencies of Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. This PowerPoint and guided notes set is a perfect fit with my Cold War and Modern America bundles!
This resource teaches the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s in a very detailed and thorough way. It introduces students to the Reagan presidency, including his domestic policies of Reaganomics, the appointment of Sandra Day O'Conner, and handling of the Air Traffic Controller's strike. Internationally, it teaches about the Libya bombings, the ending of the Cold War, and the Iran-Contra Affair. Students learn about the Persian Gulf War under George H. W. Bush, while the Clinton presidency is very detailed including NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement), the Oslo Peace Accords, and domestic issues such as the Branch Davidian standoff in Waco, Texas, the Oklahoma City Bombing, and the tragic Columbine Shooting. Students also learn about the variety of scandals that took place during the Clinton presidency such as the Whitewater Land Development scandal, Troopergate and Paula Jones, and the Monica Lewinsky scandal (including the buildup to impeachment). Next, students learn about the George W. Bush presidency, including "No Child Left Behind," the tragic September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, and the beginning of the Great Recession. Finally, students learn about the Barack Obama presidency with his election in 2008 and his domestic agenda, including a focus on reforming the healthcare system with Obamacare.
This unit PowerPoint and Guided Notes set is entirely editable so you can easily tweak to fit your needs! A teacher guide is also included to show you ideal spots in the notes to break and turn to a hands-on activity (in the unit bundle) to build intrigue or go deeper into the content.
Enjoy!
