Description
The 11-page instruction download contains a step by step process for conducting a mock trial in your classroom. Included in these instructions are student roles, classroom set-up, a script for all participants, student worksheets to help prepare the case, a list of a few objections that I typically hear in my classroom, and the process to make a witness an expert witness. These instructions will work with most mock trial cases out there.
Also included in this bundle are 5 original mock trial cases. These are the actual mock trial cases that I do with my students in my classroom. I created these mock trials to go along with the PowerPoints that are included in my Courts bundle. The PPT's used with this mock trial include opening statements, questioning in a criminal trial, and closing arguments. This mock trial allows students to assume the roles of attorneys, witnesses, and jury members while the teacher plays the role of the judge. How I do this is that I have 3 attorneys for the prosecution and defense (they will each do direct questioning of one of their witnesses and the cross of another witness). You can also have one of the 3 do an opening statement and another one do the closing argument. Allow the jury to deliberate once they have heard the evidence and allow them to reach a verdict. By keeping the teacher as the judge, they can still facilitate their class during the trial.
