What does this “Understanding Mixed Numbers & Improper Fractions Review” cover?
- Given models of fractions greater than one whole, students write mixed numbers & improper fractions. This gives them a clear visual of where each component of the numbers comes from (whole number, numerator, denominator, etc.)

This “Fractions Greater than One” lesson is designed for 4th grade, however it could easily be used as a fraction review for 5th - 8th grade math. I’ve taught every grade in middle school and never have I ever had a group come to me with a true mastery of mixed numbers & improper fractions.
