What educators are saying

I use this assignment as a photo challenge for my yearbook students. It gets them out of their comfort zone taking photos and practicing their skills. They choose their best photo and we enter it into a contest with either the staff or student body selecting their favorite photo.

Description

This "spooktacular" digital photography activity will stretch students’ critical thinking and photography skills. Student photographers will love the opportunity to get creative, and you'll love that all the work is done for you. Perfect for yearbook classes, photography classes, journalism, and more.

Student Experience: Using the Halloween-inspired prompts as springboards for their creativity, students take pictures that fulfill the prompt (something dark, something spooky, something orange, etc.) in whatever way their imaginations and cameras take them. Each task cards has one prompt, so you can use it as a mini project, giving each student one task card, or have students work together to complete several tasks. It is completely flexible. Students with beginner or advanced photography skills with any type of camera can enjoy and be successful with this project.

Included:

  • 1 PDF
  • Task Cards with Prompts
  • Student Recording Sheet
  • Rubric
