Description

Well...might as well meet their interests :) I made this barrier game to surprise my students as the year is concluding. The looks on their faces as I have pulled this out have been priceless~ so excited!!! (WARNING~ it does take a lot of cutting to put this together for multi-players, and some hand cramping LOL, but it's worth it:)

Mincraft themed barrier game with parent instructional handout: includes parent instructions, one scene page and two pages of varying objects to cut out (does not include a separate black and white version) it does print well in black and white for low ink printing! Objects were thoughtfully selected with many minor differences to promote more in depth descriptions. Great for therapy session use, then send home language activity or send home language activity packet for summer use.

If you aren't familiar with barrier games in speech therapy...they are just about the best language activity you can do... targets expressive, receptive, speech sounds, social, turn-taking, requesting clarification, concepts such as qualitative/spatial/ordinal numbers, etc. etc.

Instructions: prior to introducing the activity to students:

laminate the main pages...keep scene intact... cut each individual object out (to be able to place on the picture scene during the activity~store in a baggy/envelope)

For the activity~ give each student and your self one picture scene and one baggy of objects...I have my students brainstorm grouping categories to help organize the pictures...then place a barrier in between each participant. Take turns placing one or two objects on the picture using good describing details (location, quality, etc.) prompting everyone to ask questions if they do not understand... at your discretion, remove the barrier and check progress...object is to have similar pictures at the end of the activity (I use sticky tack to help keep pictures in place:)

I have my students group the pictures

hope you enjoy!

Please don't forget to leave feedback and earn TPT credit:) Happy summer!
