Help kids and young adults practice mindfulness to help promote happiness, attention, emotional control, and self-regulation skills. Mindfulness brain breaks can help kids regain focus, inner calm, happiness, and promote a positive classroom climate. Cards include 24 unique guided activities in both color and black/white for easy printing.
Mindfulness means being present in the moment with your thoughts and feelings without making judgments. It is being aware of what is happening but not being overwhelmed. The mindfulness techniques in these task cards include visualization, deep breathing, walking meditation, mindful listening, and more.
Mindful Brain Break Activities
- Strike a Pose - Students stand up and hold a pose without moving for a period of time. This promotes stillness and calm.
- Dandelion Wish - Students imagine a dandelion in front of them and slowly exhale to blow the dandelion as they make a wish. This activity encourages mindful breathing and positive thinking.
- Campfire Visualization - Learners will close their eyes and picture a warm campfire outside. This brain break allows students to practice visualization and using their senses.
- Mindful Listening - Students will listen to a piece of music (your choice) as they focus on the sounds, tones, and rhythms they hear. This activity encourages observation, stillness, and noticing our feelings.

Why Teach Mindfulness
Research has shown many positive outcomes when you practice mindfulness. People of all ages and abilities can practice. It is a great strategy for kids struggling with tough emotions, struggling to focus, or those who want to feel a bit more calm in the moment. Mindfulness brain breaks can also be helpful to calm a class after lunch or recess or refocus kids before a big test.
