What educators are saying
Description
These 42 weeks of spiral review bell work reinforce reading and writing terms and skills. Check out the first 2 weeks of these "Do Now" and agenda slides for FREE. These "Do Nows" (also known as bell ringers or warm ups) and agenda slides are designed to be used daily at the start of class.
The slides can be projected on a whiteboard or Smart Board for students to respond to in notebooks or on a response sheet like this one. You could also post them on your learning management system and have students respond digitally.
I set a five minute timer (there is one embedded in the slides) for students to complete their bell work and stamp their responses when complete to create urgency and accountability. At the end of that time, I also select a few students to share their responses. Many of the prompts include sentences or passages from middle grade books, so you could also connect these "Do Nows" to book talks of some recent and classic titles.
Following each "Do Now" slide is an agenda slide and exit ticket slide that can also be used that day. The slides can be used to communicate reminders, the daily agenda, the lesson objective, an exit ticket, and homework assignments. Using a "Do Now" and agenda slides helps to create a routine at the start of class, and keeps you and your students organized and on task.
The "Do Now" for each day of the week has a different focus described below.
