Every year I have my high school art student make or design their own sketchbooks. This bookbinding technique is simple, cost-effective, perfect for a low-budget art program, and is designed for upper elementary, middle, or high school art students.
Project preparation isn't always the most exciting part of an assignment, so I like my students to take ownership of this portion of art-making from day one. Each class I teach is introduced to a different type of bookmaking, binding, and decorating. However, this book is the simplest and most cost-effective of them all. I often lean back on this one if I am in a crunch.
