Design Your Own Coat of Arms

Background and Historical Information:

Brief Description:
You will be creating a Coat of Arms for yourself and a celebrity or athlete of your choice. This is great, because it obliges you to weigh personal values and think about how to symbolically and artistically represent them. There are certainly traditions to heraldry, but very few firm rules. Heraldic design has always been an opportunity for great personal expression.


Task/ Motivation:
Imagine you're a knight in battle, you can't tell friend from foe, and then you realize your friends don't recognize you either. You need a new plan. This is it. You will either create a shield, clothing line, helmet, or some approved product with your coat of arms on it. Later we will have your classmates interpret your coat of arms.

you will be interpreting other classmates designs. You also will be creating a coat of arms for someone in the movie we are watching or a celebrity, or your favorite athlete

Steps:

1. Research the colors and pictures on medieval shield and create your own that is unique to you

2. You HAVE @ least 2-3 colors

3. MUST HAVE @ least 3 symbols

4. Write 2-3 paragraphs- explaining what your colors and symbols / pictures represent and HOW they represent you.
