What educators are saying

This was a great way to start our unit on meter, and the comparison with the airport really helped my students understand exactly how meter functioned. They still call whole notes "Sumo Wrestler Sam"! Very effective and memorable!

Description

Help your students grasp time signatures and meter with these real-life examples. This lesson is kid-tested and approved!

This lesson is a fun, interactive introduction to meter in music and understanding time signatures. Students just love this exciting way of understanding abstract musical concepts by using simple real-life ideas - airplanes and flying! This presentation helps elementary students grasp important words like meter, time signature, measure, bar line, and also review rhythms. Along the journey, students are able to try their hand at some interactive, self-correcting time signature games before coming down for a landing.
