Mentor Program Goals Poster/Page: This is a list of goals a good mentor program should have to aid new teachers. I was lucky to be a mentor to several new teachers. For the past couple of years I have been asked to help coach new teachers and assist the mentors. I found that there was no clear set of standards or guidelines for the mentors to follow so, with research , I made one that fit our needs these are the goals we hope to obtain.

Roles & Responsibilities Poster/Page: This is the list of roles and responsibilities for Principals/Supervisors, Mentoring Teacher & the Mentee. This list spells out what each person’s responsibility is to make the Mentor/Mentee Program effective.

This gives a framework of what the mentee thinks his/her strengths and weaknesses are along with addressing the needs of the new teacher to the school.

Individual Development Plan Form: Each of our new and probationary teachers were required to have three goals to work on throughout the school year. This form was used to state the goal and how it was going to be accomplished. These goals were approved by the administrator and he/she may also require a certain goal to be worked on for a particular teacher.

Mentor/Mentee Documentation Log: Mentors and Mentees are required to meet a set amount of time during the school year. At the beginning of the year they may meet weekly and may taper off to once month toward the end of the year. Teachers that are in their 2nd or 3rd year of probation are still required to meet with a mentor teacher in our district.

Professional Journal Form: Teachers are able to write down any professional development they are doing and how it pertains to their Individual Development Plan goals. They may also write down what is discussed during their mentor/mentee meetings.
