Mental Health Literacy Workbook (Grade 5 Ontario Health)

This workbook covers the Mental Health Literacy unit in the Grade 5 Ontario Health Curriculum (2019).

In this workbook, students will learn about mental health, understanding its importance and the impact of stigma. They will explore ways to help others and recognize personal limits through activities like peer check-ins and writing friendly letters. The workbook highlights the connection between social interactions, sleep, and mental health.

Students will develop and practice coping strategies, empathy, and emotional awareness through various scenarios and exercises. Additionally, the workbook discusses mental health in the classroom, available supports, and includes engaging activities like creating a classroom promise and designing a mental health hoodie.

There is a variety of readings, short answer questions, and creative thinking activities included to create a varied workbook suitable for many learning styles.

To support assessment practices, Ontario curriculum expectations are clearly identified on each page. A unit test is included at the end of the workbook.
