Description

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! As educators, I think Social Emotional Learning might be the most important skill we teach. Our students have trouble expressing their emotions in a healthy manner, especially since the pandemic, so I made these posters to help students calm down when they are upset!

I like to set up a calm down corner for my students (even high schoolers need this) and tell them to pick one of the three exercises to complete for 2-5 minutes. This is such a better technique than yelling at a student and moving on! I also model breathing exercises in front of students anytime I get triggered (I'm a middle school teacher, so that happens quite a bit lol). If the whole class is rowdy, we might do a class-wide exercise!
