Description

This Holiday Elf unit is perfect for the weeks leading up to Christmas Break. You can use the reading comprehension lessons throughout an entire week or plan a fun Elf Theme Day! This unit focuses on sequence of events and problem and solution. All crafts and activities can be printed on white paper! No prep is needed!

The unit begins with practice of asking/answering questions during the read aloud of Memoirs of an Elf. A read aloud link is included if you don’t have the book. After the story, students will complete a story retelling challenge by matching cards and times in the correct order. The next mini-lesson focuses on problem, steps to solve the problem, and solution. Next, student use the story to make a list of known facts about Santa. Then, they make a list of facts about themselves. Last, students “snap a selfie” and write about their day as an elf. This unit also includes two optional story maps, an elf color by code, and a fun elf craft.
