ESCAPE ROOM:
Spruce up your introductory lessons with this fun, student centered, escape room activity.
HOW IT CAN WORK FOR YOU
Students can work in small groups to work through the four activities or you can choose to rotate them through four different stations to complete puzzles and activities related to learning about what a school counselor’s role is.
IT IS MY RECOMMENDATION THAT YOU USE THIS ACTIVITY AS A FOLLOW UP TO A STORY, OR A CONVERSATION WHERE YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF FIRST!
In the first activity groups must read a paragraph about school counselors then unscramble words to make the paragraph make sense.
In the second activity students will read a list of school counselor duties, then arrange words in bold from the list to form a complete sentence about school counseling.
In the third task students must complete a puzzle and search for a hidden word in the puzzle.
The fourth and final task is a fun, personalized activity about you! It is a true/false “quiz” about the students’ school counselor—YOU.
INCLUDED IN YOUR PURCHASE is:
o Detailed set up tips
o Task cards for each of the four activities
o An answer key for each activity that the students can use to check their own work.
o Props and posters for winners and losers.
MEET THE COUNSELOR EDITABLE NEWSLETTER
Simply insert your own photo, save to a file, and insert in your newsletter/brochure! This resource is a quick and easy editable newsletter template for you to make and hand out to your teachers and parents. Just design and use with little prep and no other work involved. We’re all short on time and having a handy resources available is a must for busy counselors. I like to place a pile of these on a table at the door for back to school night. I also ask my principal and our secretary to keep a stack of these in the main office for new registrants, and for those parents who have to meet with the principal.
Some teachers like to print these on colored or neon paper.
With Love,
The Fancy Counselor
