    Description

This morning work bundle can be used to enhance 3rd grade learning of basic math concepts for Measurement and Data. These worksheets are a helpful addition to your classroom, offering practice in:

    • Reading and interpreting data from picture and bar graphs.
    • Using data to create picture and bar graphs.
    • Writing and telling time to the minute
    • Solving word problems with time.
    • Measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths.
    • Using measurements to create line plots.
    • Solving area and perimeter with unit squares and other measurements.
    • Finding missing measurements.
    • Find area by decomposing figures.
    • Using the distributive property to simplify solving for area.
    • Estimating and measuring mass and liquid volume.
    • Solving word problems about mass and liquid volume.

Each learning resource comes in two versions for easy adaptability to your needs:

    Math Morning Work Version:

These pages are set up to be used in the morning as a quick review of 3rd grade math concepts. Morning work is helpful for that transition time when students are coming in and getting ready to start their day.

    Other Uses Version:

These pages are the same as the morning work pages, but they can be used as an assessment, extra practice, or exit ticket. I have removed the “Morning Work” title so they are adaptable to your class’s needs.

    These resources also includes:

    • Answer key for easy grading
    • Drawing/doodle space for early finishers

All student pages are shown in the preview of each product.

This is a growing bundle. Check back often for more resources!

Tell and write time to the nearest minute and measure time intervals in minutes. Solve word problems involving addition and subtraction of time intervals in minutes, e.g., by representing the problem on a number line diagram.
Measure and estimate liquid volumes and masses of objects using standard units of grams (g), kilograms (kg), and liters (l). Add, subtract, multiply, or divide to solve one-step word problems involving masses or volumes that are given in the same units, e.g., by using drawings (such as a beaker with a measurement scale) to represent the problem.
Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units-whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
